A Song of Joy: An invitation to sing and hope for a day in which all men will be brothers again
"Imagine how dreadfully dull this world of ours would be
if everybody looked, thought, ate, dressed, and acted the same"
People, by Peter Spier
It is very strange, says Spier in his 1980 best selling book People, some people even hate others because they are unlike themselves. Because they are different. They forget that they too would seem different if they could only see themselves through other people's eyes. Almost a decade earlier, set to the tune the Ninth Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, Argentine composer Waldo de los Rios (1934 - 1977), had brought us "A Song of Joy": An invitation to sing and hope for a day in which all men will be brothers again.
The single reached number 1 on music charts around Europe and America in 1970. Listen to this musical phenomenon of Spanish and international music, first interpreted by Miguel RĂos in 1969.
