Finding Who We are

In our last blog, we talked about love. We said that in order to love and to be loved we needed to recognize and honour who we are. Poet and children's author Walter de la Mare invites us to do this in his famous quote:

As long as I live I shall
Always be My Self - and
no other, Just me.

He is not the only one, Oscar Wilde says it too. He says, "be yourself, every body else is already taken". But, who are we and how do we honour who we are? A lot of work has been done in finding the answer to this question. As it turns out, that answer is simple, not necessarily easy though: in order to get to know and honour who we are, we just need to connect with what's around us. To be present. To see, listen, smell, touch, and try every moment of our lives.  In the words of Tara Brach, "To let life manifest through our senses".
